The Beekeeping experience with Morecambe Bay Bee at Animal Care offers a unique opportunity to delve into the fascinating world of bees and their essential role in our ecosystem.
Located in the grounds of Animal Care with beautiful views over Morecambe Bay, this experience is designed to educate and inspire visitors about the importance of bees in pollination and biodiversity.
Participants can observe these industrious creatures up close, learn about their life cycles, and understand the challenges they face in todays environment. The experience is both educational and engaging, providing insights into how we can support bee populations. Whether you're a nature enthusiast, a student, or just curious about bees, this experience promises to be enriching and memorable.

About the Event
Getting Started:
 Health & Safety: Learn about what we will do once we get to the Hive, a look at the different tools we use, how to spot a Queen and a drone. Preparing for the hive getting our jackets and gloves on.
 The Hive: Under our guidance, as we undertake the hive inspection, you'll hold frames teeming with live bees. Experience the incredible textures of fresh beeswax and see the cycle of life first
hand—from eggs to developing brood and drones. Watch the bees undertaking their day-to-day
tasks. Hopefully we will spot the Queen!

 The Honey: Back to base for a honey tasting session and afternoon tea!
 A gift to take away. A small gift from Morecambe bay bee .

What to wear!
Please wear strong loose trousers (Jeans are suitable). Strong shoes or boots (wellies are ideal)
and socks that you can pull over your trousers. You will be provided with a beekeeping jacket and
gloves.
The bees are very sensitive to smells so please avoid strong perfumes and deodorants.
Capture the Moment: We'll help you snap incredible, up-close photos on your own phone as you safely interact with the bees. Share your extraordinary adventure with friends and family!

Session 1 Time: 10am - 12.30pm Max 6 people
Session 2 Time: 1pm - 3.30pm Max 6 people
Cost £75 per person
Age 12+ children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a paying adult.

The Apiary is located at the top of Animal Care, this is up a steep hill. This is only accessible on
foot.
Not suitable for those with bee allergies.
A visit to the bees is done at your own risk.
The date may be subject to change if weather conditions are unsuitable.
