IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Please read the following instructions carefully. They are for your safety and to provide all the information about our exciting event.
1. The walk starts in at Arnside shore at 11.20pm promptly and will take between three and four hours to complete.
2. All walkers must check in with us before the walk starts. Our registration point will be by the clock tower on Arnside promenade and we will start registration from approximately 10am. Once you have registered we ask if you can move further up the promenade and make your way to Ashmeadow (approx. 5 minute walk) at the far end of the promenade car park. This is where we will meet our guide Michael and his support team. Please make sure you register before 11am as Michael will not wait!
3. If you are travelling by car, you can park in Grange and take the train to Arnside or you can get a train back from Kents Bank to Arnside after the walk. A list of up to date train times and ticket prices can be found at https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/ (please be aware these are subject to change at short notice). Please contact Grange Tourist Information Centre on 01539 534026 for any further local information in preparation. Please note that parking at Kents Bank is severely restricted!
4. All walkers take part in the Cross Bay Walk at their own risk and Lancashire Teaching Hospital's Charity will not be responsible for any loss, sickness or injury that might occur as a result of taking part. Please be sensible with footwear. The sands are hard and you will be wading through a knee/thigh deep channel at certain points of the walk. It is also very muddy and slippery in places. Walking sandals are ideal or boots that can be removed easily, as are trousers with zip off legs! Even if the weather is overcast, please use sunblock and take a bottle of water with you (we will also provide bottled water at the registration desk). We suggest you take dry footwear and trousers/shorts to travel back home in.
5. If you take photos please email them to us for our website, social media pages and newsletter
6. MOST IMPORTANT - this event is highly weather dependent and may be cancelled at short notice. Michael will make the final decision on whether the walk goes ahead on the evening of Friday 28th June. It is your responsibility to check that the walk has not been postponed due to bad weather and you can do this by:
• Checking Lancashire Teaching Hospital's Charity Facebook and Twitter pages which will be updated regularly.
• Making sure you have given us an email address so that we can email or text you direct should the event be cancelled.
7. Lastly, by entering online you confirm that you have read and accept the conditions of entry to the Cross Bay Walk 2024 and the rules and conditions of the event.
