Terms and Conditions  −  Walk in the Dark 2026

Important information:

• The walk is open to everyone, however please note that all walkers under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult, and children under the age of 12 can take part for free. Dogs are welcome, but they must be on a lead, and you must clean up after them

• We’d love our walkers to light up the route with fancy dress or bright clothing – feel free to be as colourful as you can!

• The walk isn’t a race, although you’re more than welcome to run it if you wish. The route is approximately 11 miles long, so you will need to make sure that you are fit enough to complete that distance.

• The route will be marshalled and sign posted so you shouldn’t get lost, however all walkers will be given an emergency contact number when they register, just in case of any difficulties. There’ll also be a map of the route online.

• Before the walk starts, we offer a bus service from Royal Preston Hospital for a £2 donation for any walkers who wish to park at the finish the bus will take you to the start of the walk at Chorley Hospital. Places need to be booked in advance for this service, which will leave at 7pm from the turning circle opposite St Clare's Church on Sharoe Green Lane, next to the hospital. Once registered on the bus you will not need to re-register again for the walk at Chorley Hospital. There will be no shuttle bus at the end of the walk. There will be parking on-site for participants during the walk, but you must provide your car registration when booking. If you use a different car on the day, or you decide after booking to leave your car, then you will need to contact us with the correct registration number - this is to ensure you aren't charged for parking.

Please proceed to follow this link to secure your seat on the coach. Hurry, as there are only a limited number of seats available! https://www.trybooking.com/uk/FTNU

• Walkers will need to sign in at the start of the walk in Chorley, and you will be allocated a wrist band at the registration desk

• All walkers take part in the walk at their own risk and the Rosemere Cancer Foundation will not be responsible for any loss, sickness or injury that might occur as a result of taking part. Please be sensible with footwear and dress accordingly, ideally with a warm waterproof jacket.

• This event is weather dependent and may be cancelled at short notice. It is your responsibility to check that the walk has not been postponed due to bad weather and you can do this by checking our social media accounts and website - www.rosemere.org.uk. We will, if we know in advance, email all participants to tell them the walk has been cancelled.

• PLEASE NOTE - on the day of the walk you will not be able to contact staff on the emergency number until 5.30pm so if there have been no updates on social media please assume the walk is still going ahead as planned. For any questions you have regarding the walk, please ensure you have contacted us on 01772 522913 by 4.00pm on Friday 24th April.

• By entering online you confirm that you have read and accept the conditions of entry to Walk in the Dark and the rules and conditions of the event.

If you have any queries at all, please call the charity office on 01772 522913, or email rosemere@lthtr.nhs.uk.
