Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC) Expression of Interest

Sunday 1 February 2026
At age 13 you can become a Cadet Surf Lifesaver by completing your Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC). Over 7 weeks, typically held with on-line theory and weekend practical sessions, you will be provided with the skills and knowledge to be able to participate as a Cadet in Life Saving operations and join a patrol team at Avalon Beach.

Bronze Medallion Expression of Interest for next course

Between Sunday 19 October 2025 and Sunday 1 February 2026
The Bronze Medallion is an 8 week course, typically held with mid-week theory and weekend practical application. You will receive the skills and knowledge to be able to participate in Life Saving operations and join a patrol team at Avalon Beach. Upon completion, you will have gained a nationally recognised qualification (Certificate II in Public Safety – Aquatic Rescue). The prerequisite pool swim requires participants to swim 400m (16 laps of Avalon Beach pool) in 9 mins or less.

First Aid Course 18 & 20 November 2025

Tuesday 18 November 2025
Open to patrol members, this course is being run on Tuesday 18th and Thursday 20th November 6pm-9pm. Candidates must attend both sessions. There is Pre-Course work (about 45 minutes) to be completed in the eLearning of the SLS Hub by Sunday 16th November. Go to Members SLS Hub Training Library and Emergency Care and complete First Aid modules.
