Between Saturday 17 September 2022 and Sunday 18 September 2022A two-day practical workshop to learn how to create an open weave, lacy felted fabric. Various wet felting techniques combine wool, silk and other natural fibres into a unique lace structure which can be further embellished with hand and/or machine embroidery. These techniques can be used to create standalone artworks or developed into wearables, 3D objects or mixed media projects. Beginners or experienced participants wanting to explore new ideas all welcome. Class is held 10am-3.30pm (30-min lunch). Participants will be provided with a ‘material requirements' list and have the option to purchase items that may not be routinely in their stash. The workshop will be run by Helen MacRitchie whose exhibition "Topophilia: a sense of belonging" is Gallery76 in September 2022. Helen is a textile artist currently based in Oxfordshire UK, who uses wet felted wool as her base of choice with free machine or hand embroidery blended to create layered textural surfaces or sculptural forms.Gallery76
