    "What Do I Do Next?" is an interactive session where we can encourage each other with suggestions for the next research step. Problems can be presented and suggestions made to get through, around or over. These sessions are informal and your participation is encouraged. Bring your lunch to eat around the table. Afterwards the library will be open to continue your research. Bookings are not required, but are appreciated for seating arrangements.

    Sometimes the facts don’t tell you enough: How a fiction writer looks at family history. Ian Reid is the author of more than a dozen books and numerous articles. As a literary historian, he has extensive experience in archival research. As a historical novelist, he is particularly interested in fiction that has a factual basis in family history. He received a 2015 Battye Memorial Fellowship for a project on history and fiction. Wine and cheese from 7 with coffee & cake afterwards

    Graeme Mackenzie is a trained historian, with a Masters Degree from the University of Cambridge, and has been a professional genealogist specialising in the Highland clans and families of Scotland for the last 25 years. Please join us for a late afternoon and evening of learning and fellowship as we trade information and discover more about the lives of our wonderful ancestors. A light supper will be served between the sessions. Please bring your tickets with you to the sessions.

    Western Australian Genealogical Society Inc's. 40th Anniversary - 1979 to 2019 To celebrate this milestone event in our history, the President and Management Committee invites members to join them for a celebration lunch. The meal will be catered for by the WA Spit Roast Company which provides an excellent choice of roasts, vegetables, salads and vegetarian and gluten free foods. There will also be a birthday cake, displays and much more.

    Our guest speaker, Miriam Crandell, will tell the story of a group of early 1900s British suffragists who attempted to establish a farming community for female migrants in Denmark, WA. The male bureaucrats and politicians were not thrilled with the plans for a so-called “Adam-less” Eden, and contrived to avert what they saw as a PR disaster.
