What kind of fun can you have with 20 different adolescent ideas about what it is to be “authentic” at a time in life when you are not only navigating the complex terrain of discovering your own identity, but in a society that is saturated in fake stuff? In our exploration of devising a musical from scratch, this courageous yr 11 Theatre Arts class discussed lions, tigers, and dysfunctional Mafia families until we discovered that the best way to create a show was to base it on what was playing out in front of us.
