Tyre Land Wanaka Upper Clutha Year 8 Rugby Fundraiser – Saturday 28 March 2026Join us on a family friendly self drive 4wd through Bendigo Station. The tour is an opportunity to access land that isn’t usually open to the public and will include a talk from a representative of Santana mines about their new gold mine at Bendigo Station. Although this is a scenic drive and not overly challenging, only genuine 4WD vehicles with off road capability are allowed. No dogs or drones allowed sorry.
All proceeds will go directly towards supporting the Year 8 Upper Clutha Rugby players upcoming tour to NSW, Australia.
Postponement date - Sunday 29 March 2026 (we reserve the right to postpone or cancel the tour due to weather or safety concerns).
TOUR OVERVIEW
The trip commences at the Bendigo Station Homestead (1460 Tarras - Cromwell Road) and will end on the Bendigo Loop Road.
Vehicles will travel in a guided convoy with lead and tail vehicles, there will be opportunities to stop at view points along the way (including the proposed mine site) with a designated lunch stop and is approximately 4 hours.
The terrain is mild off-road farm and station tracks. Vehicles will travel in set waves, participants must ensure they book the correct time slot.
Time: Wave one – 9.30am Departure
Wave two – 11.00am Departure
A BBQ lunch can be pre-ordered on this booking site. There will be soft drinks, water and a bake sale available to purchase on the tour (CASH ONLY). Participants are welcome to bring their own food and drinks.
Entry Conditions
• Drivers must
o hold a current drivers licence
o drive to the conditions at all times
o follow all instructions from tour organisers and convoy leaders
o remain in convoy unless directed otherwise
o engage 4WD and low ratio where required once off sealed roads
• Vehicles must:
o be genuine 4WD vehicles with off road capability
o have adequate ground clearance
o be clean and road legal (registered and warrant of fitness) and in good mechanical condition
o have insurance cover with a minimum 3rd party insurance
o have appropriate tyres suitable for gravel and farm tracks
• The organiser reserves the right to deny entry to unsuitable vehicles.
• It is a pre condition of participation that every driver must carefully read and abide by the specific tour rules and waiver.
• This is a family friendly fundraising event, it is not a platform to protest, it is important that all participants exhibit good behaviour and treat tour organisers, volunteers, landowners and mine representatives with respect. Anyone who is acting in a manner that compromises safety, landowner relationships, or tour integrity will be removed from the station without a refund.
• Smoking, alcohol and drugs are strictly prohibited.
• Dogs, drones and firearms are not permitted on the tour
Environment and Landowner Responsibility
• Bendigo Station is private land normally closed to the public. Participants must:
o stay on designated tracks at all times;
o respect stock, gates, and station infrastructure;
o remove all rubbish; and
o follow all organiser and landowner instructions
WAIVER
I have read and understood the above information and by registering and participating in this tour I, and my passengers acknowledge and agree that:
1. We enter this tour at our own risk and are responsible for our own safety. Neither the organiser, landowners or any associated person or organisation will be held responsible for injury to any persons or damage to vehicle.
2. We are aware that:
a. off road vehicle travel involves inherent risks;
b. the location of the tour is in a remote area where access in an emergency may be limited by terrain
3. We will not make a claim against any organiser, landowners or any associated person or organisation in respect of:
a. any injury suffered by me;
b. and damage to my vehicle or to property regardless of how the injury or damage occurs
4. We will comply with all instructions from tour organisers and convoy leaders.
5. The organiser reserves the right to:
a. alter the itinerary due to adverse weather or other conditions;
b. refuse entry to any persons; or
c. exclude any persons who do not comply with tour rules
6. The driver hold a drivers licence and the vehicle used will be road legal, in good mechanical condition, insured, fit for purpose and comply with the vehicle requirements.
7. We will not consume drugs, drink alcohol or smoke on the tour.
8. We will not bring any dogs, drones or firearms on the tour.
9. We will read the pre trip briefing prior to the tour.
10. We consent to receiving medical treatment if required.
