Team Solihull's 36KM Ultra Challenge
About
Join Team Solihull as we take on a 36km (22-mile) Ultra Challenge Walk, starting at Solihull School and finishing in Stratford-Upon-Avon, following the beautiful towpaths of the Grand Union and Stratford Canals all the way to the finish line. A bucolic test of endurance. We are raising funds to help lift swathes of Sri Lanka's very poorest families out of poverty, by building and resourcing a Teacher Training Centre and Community Hub in Maskeliya. In doing so we will help the Tea Leaf Trust provide a pipeline of highly skilled teachers from tea plantation families, who will in turn educate thousands of young children and young adults otherwise stuck in perpetual and generational poverty.
This Teacher Training Centre and Community Hub will:
- each year, train 20 of the best Main Diploma graduates from The Tea Leaf Trust's collection of schools, into high-quality teachers to staff its growing network.
- provide many vulnerable young women with pathways to security and independence.
- provide internet access, job guidance and a lending library for alumni and residents.
- benefit the wider community by offering public access to digital resources, careers guidance, and a library year-round.
Your participation and a willingness to seek sponsorship - of any amount big or small - would make a very real and lasting difference to the lives of many.
We would be delighted to have you join Team Solihull. You would play an important part in doing something special. 🌿
