This play follows the history of ancient Greek drama, from its birth in religious ceremonies and traditional popular theatre to the four greatest dramatists of the fifth century BCE, the tragedians Aeschylus, Sophocles, and Euripides and the comic playwright Aristophanes. Extracts will be performed from a selection of plays which remain relevant in our own day.
