We are pleased to welcome Dr Mayumi Purvis as our guest speaker for our International Women’s Day Breakfast.
In 2017 Mayumi was inducted as a Past Pupil of Distinction in recognition of the outstanding success she has achieved in her life and career, contributions towards a positive difference in the lives of others and embodying Kilbreda College’s motto of ‘Strength and Kindliness.’
Mayumi is currently lecturing in Ethics at Monash University, as well as working with Peter Mac Cancer Centre and The University of Melbourne on the development of an end-of-life course for non-medical practitioners. She also researches “compassionate communities” in Australia.
In addition to this work, Mayumi runs a private practice in end-of-life support and volunteers in aged care as an end-of-life counsellor and dignity therapist. Finally, Mayumi is involved in a project centred around ‘volunteer companioning’ that sees her working with nine other brilliant women from around this country, to bring to Australia a U.S. based program called ‘no one dies alone.’
We invite students and family members to join us so collectively our College Community can create a #BalanceforBetter world and commit to working together to address any obstacles we face.
