'Melodiosities in Pure Effusion' - 11 November 2012, 10-5pm
This course will focus on the less naturalistic chapters of Ulysses (Cyclops, Circe, Nausicaa and Ithaca) and its modernist and metafictive (that is, making fictionality explicit) elements, and experimentalism. It is pitched at general readers and will lean towards literariness, but not neglect Joyce's politics and engagement with the ideas of his time, and his radicalism.
