Science of Outdoors webinar with Fizzics Education
Has your Unit Council included any STEM activities in the program for Term 3? Why not join Scouts from all around Australia for our 2021 National Science Week program in August. The fun will culminate in a national finale Science of Outdoors webinar hosted in collaboration with Fizzics Education on Saturday 28 August. This is a live event and will not be recorded.
Scouting has always been strong on STEM skills. Maths to calculate catering quantities and navigate, the science of water purification, the physics of abseiling, and the engineering and construction of pioneering structures – they all had their place. In this interactive webinar, we will be learning the science behind:
- How to Create a Water Filter
- Weather...Make a cloud in a jar
- Topography and map reading
- Making a sundial
This Online Zoom event is targeted at ages 5-14 years. [Max 1000].
A Zoom link and password will be sent to registered participants, not later than Thursday 26 August, please do not ask for it earlier as this is an online safety measure.$5/participant (plus standard 50c booking fee), includes event badge. A materials list will also be provided so you can join along in the hands-on activities at home or at your Scout hall.
Refund policy: We are unable to provide refunds following the close of bookings (unless in exceptional circumstances), as numbers need to be finalised in the lead-up to the event.
Scouts ACT’s SciScouts program has been partnerships with local universities and other specialist STEM & Innovation experts since 2015. This year, Scout ACT’s SciScouts and STEM Leaders from NSW, WA, QLD and VIC are partnering with Fizzics Education, to deliver SciScouts: Science of Outdoors!
