Please Note - Due to Current Covid Lockdown in NSW, the Guest Speaker is unfortunetly unable to attend the Child Protection Dinner, however, Lisa will be presenting via Zoom for this Event. 

Lisa Hillan is a Social Worker with over 25 years experience in child and human rights striving for social justice. Lisa has been the Chair of the Child and Family Welfare Association of Australia and Chair of the Child Protection Committee in Queensland. In 2006 Lisa completed a Churchill fellowship to study effective models of residential care. As a highly motivated, values driven professional Lisa has led andmanaged multiple human services organisations and has been a contributor to social policy change as a consultant and committee member for multiple government agencies and departments. As an experienced facilitator Lisa works to create safe supported spaces that are relational and provide opportunities for positive input and engagement by all participants. 

 

For over 10 years, Lisa was the Programs Manager for Save the Children Queensland and Northern Territory where she led the development of work focused on realising child rights through advocacy and policy development and the provision of services that included: residential care; early intervention; early childhood; family support and domestic and family violence. As part of this role Lisa led and established multiple partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations across Queensland and the Northern Territory supporting them to build their children and families sector.

 

From October 2010 – October 2019 Lisa was Director of Programs, Policy and Knowledge Creationat the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Healing Foundation. Lisa was responsible for supporting the development of healing programs, evidence creation and trauma training initiatives that were driven by an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander philosophical framework and were focused on creating positive change to the wellbeing of Stolen Generations and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families and communities.

 

Currently Lisa is Director of Policy Research and Evaluation at QATSICPP where she is working on establishing the Centre of Excellence that will enable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledge to be at the forefront of evidence creation in child and family policy and practice. Lisa has a passion for the voice of children and young people, harnessing co-design principles that preference the wisdom of our first nations people and survivors of trauma as the means to creating meaningful programs and policy that leads to real change.
