Consort Music and Songs from the Restoration to Georgian England.The Restoration of Charles II in 1660 heralded a period of great artistic richness in England. Henry Purcell wrote some of the most beautiful songs ever composed. Daniel Purcell, William Croft, Thomas Ravenscroft and Robert Woodcock composed sonatas and instrumental music for the theatre, and the great Thomas Augustine Arne wrote songs for the Georgian stage throughout the early Georgian period in the mid-eighteenth century.
Musick for Severall Friends was formed in Adelaide in 2017 to play Renaissance and Baroque music on period instruments. Featuring Peter Mertin (Musical Director and Lute). James Logan (Theorbo), Mary Peterson (Baroque Cello). Agnes Weinstein andElizabeth Ferguson (Violins), Garth Rowe, Annette Lever and Sally McHenry (Recorders), Gillian Dooley (Voice) and Tim Barton (Spinet).
