ABOUT ERWIN RADO:
Erwin Rado, the founding father of the Melbourne Film Festival, was a Hungarian Jew who moved to Australia with his wife in 1939. After serving in the Australian army during World War II, he established a photography studio and became the first paid Director of the Melbourne Film Festival in 1956. Under his leadership, the festival became globally recognized as a premier film exhibition. Erwin passed away in 1988 at the age of 73.

Andrew Markus is an accomplished historian and academic, specialising in Australian immigration history. He is a leading authority on the experiences of immigrants in Australia, particularly those who arrived in the post-war period.
