Iberia - Renaissance Songs from the Iberian Peninsula
About
The songs for this concert, are all in a collection published in Venice in 1556 but held only in a single copy in Uppsala, Sweden. The music is almost all by composers from Spain, mostly anonymous, some in Catalan but mostly in Spanish, both religious and secular subjects. They are supposed to have been collected by a Southern Italian nobleman. Apparently all works from the 16th century. Very few translations are available, hence the problems figuring out exactly what’s going on in some of the songs! Afternoon tea will be served too!Location
