Bringing Up Great Kids - Parenting Adolescents

Bringing Up Great Kids is an evidence-based program developed by the Australian Childhood Foundation.Facilitated by healthAbility Family Support Worker Joan Lauricella across 7 weekly sessions, it is a mindful, reflective and respectful program with a focus on building loving and nurturing relationships between parents/carers and their adolescent.
The program is aimed at parents/carers of pre-teens or younger teens (around 9-14 years old).
The program supports parents and carers to:
- Adapt their parenting style as their children grow
- Identify important needs for adolescents and how to meet these
- Learn more about adolescent brain development
- Learn more about adolescent behaviour and how to respond to it
- Explore new and effective ways of communicating
- Learn methods for practising calm and responsive parenting
- Find resources for self-care and support
