Loneliness: A Human Experience. A Chance to Reconnect
About
As Australia marks Loneliness Awareness Week 2026 in August under the theme “Make Room for Connection”, Jenny Kirschner, is partnering with C Care and Jewish Care to present a community webinar exploring one of the most significant yet overlooked public health challenges of our time - loneliness.
Jenny will unpack what loneliness is, why it matters, and the profound impacts it can have on our physical, mental and cognitive health. She will also explore evidence-informed ways people can strengthen social connection—from volunteering and community activities to social prescribing. While there is no single solution to loneliness because everyone’s experience is unique, there are many pathways to connection. Attendees will hear how organisations in our community such as C Care and Jewish Care are addressing this issue through a variety of initiatives.
This session is for anyone wanting to better understand loneliness and the latest evidence-informed approaches, including health and mental health professionals, community workers, leaders, and anyone committed to building a more connected community.
