Death anxiety is considered to be a basic fear that may underpin a range of psychiatric conditions. This case-based presentation explores the proposition that the dread of death is the central driver of most presentations of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Research evidence will be presented, and several illustrative cases will be described. Finally, implications for treatment and future research directions are examined.
