The Good Food Project

The Good Food Project is a social enterprise supporting people with disadvantage through food and community. These two hour interactive experiences include drinks, a shared meal, recipes and take home goodies including a Good Food Project branded apron. Our trainers are all experienced cooks who have come to Australia as refugees, and bring a wealth of skills, knowledge and enthusiasm to the lesson.

Egyptian Cooking Class With Maha

This two hour class includes lunch, drinks and a take home pack including a branded apron, recipes and spices. Maha, a talented cook whose experience spans several decades and several countries, was raised in Egypt and lived in South Sudan before arriving in Australia as a refugee. Maha will explain the foods being prepared, and will demonstrate each dish as participants assist in preparing an Egyptian feast for our shared meal.

South Sudanese Cooking Class With Rosa

Rosa is a multi-talented cook who has lived and worked all over the globe. Guided by Rosa, you will learn about South Sudanese culture and cuisine, and participate in hands-on recipe preparation of traditional South Sudanese dishes, from both the Dinka and Nuer tribes. Recipes include breads, sweets and savouries. This two hour interactive experience includes lunch, drinks and take home goodies including baharat, a wonderful aromatic spice mix.

Syrian Cooking Class With Tania

Super-cook and speaker of four languages, Tania, came to Australia with her family only twelve months ago, and has been teaching us about her native cuisine ever since. Our Syrian cooking class covers pastries, sweets, and kibbeh, the Syrian national dish of beef and cracked wheat. Syrian cooking uses big flavours; chili, garlic, and a world of spice combinations. This two hour interactive experience includes lunch, drinks and take home goodies.

Sri Lankan Cooking Class With Raj

Raj is a passionate and creative cook who brings decades of knowledge from his native Sri Lanka to the kitchen. Guided by Raj, you will learn how to make a range of Sri Lankan dishes, including bread, curry and chutney, as well as learning traditional cooking techniques and how to use spices. This two hour interactive experience includes drinks, lunch, and take home goodies including a hand-made garam masala.
