Tasmania is warming and drying — and communities across the Northern Midlands are already feeling the impacts of climate change and longer dry periods.

But these impacts do not stop at the farm gate.

They flow through businesses, households, sporting clubs, local services, tourism, community wellbeing, and everyday life across our region.

This free community resilience focus group brings people together to share stories, experiences, concerns, and ideas about how we prepare for the future — together.

This is not a lecture or seminar. It is a practical, community-led conversation where you can:

• Share your experiences and observations
• Hear how climate change and drying conditions are affecting different parts of the community
• Explore practical preparedness and resilience ideas
• Help shape future local resilience planning for the Northern Midlands

Guest contributors include:
• Dr Tom Remenyi — Director, Acclimatised Pty Ltd; Adjunct Associate Professor, University of Tasmania
• Lee Whitely — Chief Executive Officer, Rural Alive & Well (RAW)
• Katrina Graham — Northern Tasmanian Alliance for Resilient Councils (NTARC)

You do not need to be an expert, and you do not need to come from a farming background. If you care about the future of our region, this conversation is for you.

Strong communities prepare together.
