Greenwood Spoon Carving Workshop - Montville Timber Trail
About
Welcome to WORKSHOPS at the Montville Timber Trail! A celebration of timber and the role it plays in your history and our future. The Montville Timber Trail is an all-ages, two day event set amid the backdrop of the iconic Montville village on the Blackall Range just 1.5 hrs north of Brisbane. Bringing together makers, artisans, teachers, and sustainably sourced materials from across the country.Join me (Danny Holmes) on SUNDAY 3rd May 2026 for my greenwood spoon carving workshop at Montville Village Hall.
This workshop is suitable for both beginners and more experienced carvers.
You will learn how to prepare your spoon blank from a sustainably sourced billet using an axe, learning safe axework techniques. Once you have prepared your blank you will craft your very own cooking spoon using traditional tools and methods. You will learn about timber grain and direction, knife safety, knife sharpening, tips on technique and how to finish your work to perfection. The class is small and all the tools are provided, along with expert tuition by Danny Holmes from Mudjimba Woodcraft.
Relax and step back in time with this old, traditional craft.
