About
Join us for a welcoming and supportive art therapy program for people living with dementia and their carers!
About the sessions
Creative activities can support wellbeing, self-expression and connection. For people living with dementia, art can offer another way to communicate, express feelings and share experiences, particularly when dementia affects some of the ways we may have expressed ourselves in the past.
There is no “right” or “wrong” way to create. There is no expectation to produce a particular type of artwork or achieve a particular outcome. Simply enjoy the process, explore your creativity and participate at your own pace.
For carers
Carers are warmly invited to join in with the art-making or, if you prefer, take some time for yourself with a cuppa and a chat with other carers.
Everyone is welcome
- All cognitive abilities are welcome.
- No art experience is needed.
- All materials are provided — just come as you are.
About the facilitator
Sessions are facilitated by Kimberly Howeler from Found Objects Creative Therapies, a qualified Art Therapist and Mental Health Clinician. Kimberly will support participants to explore creativity in a welcoming and inclusive environment.
Program details
This session is part of a six-month, fortnightly art therapy program. You can sign up for one or several sessions, depending on what works best for you.
