FOCCUS Pre-Marriage Programme - 2027

You and your partner each complete the FOCCUS inventory, and with the aid of an accredited practitioner in a series of private appointments, explore skills and strategies that can strengthen and grow your relationship.

Course topics include:

• Couple match including lifestyle expectations, friends and interests, personality match and personal issues
• Basic skills including communication, decision making and problem solving
• Significant issues including religion, spirituality and values, parenting, extended family, sexuality, finance
• Special issues including inter-faith relationships, second marriages, cohabitation, commitment, and readiness to marry

FOCCUS inventory use - The FOCCUS Inventory is owned and licenced by FOCCUS USA Inc. FOCCUS facilitators generate and use Individual couple inventories for use in FOCCUS sessions only. Copies of FOCCUS inventories cannot be given to couples during or after their course. Copies of inventories are destroyed by our staff immediately following completion of the course but may be stored on the FOCCUS USA Inc. secure site. Booking information

FOCCUS inventory - This will be emailed to you from FOCCUS Inc, to complete online, before you attend your appointments. You each complete the inventory with you unique access details. Inventories usually take 20-40 minutes to complete. The inventory is designed to help you gather your individual thoughts about your relationship, and is a discussion tool used during your appointments. It is not an assesssment or diagnostic tool and copies of the inventory are not given to participants due to licensing agreement with FOCCUS Inc.  

Attendance - Complete the inventory as individuals, and attend your three 60-minute appointments together as a couple. Inventory needs to be completed by both individuals no later than 24 hours before your first appointment; if inventory is not completed, your appointment may need to be rescheduled or you may be required to book an additional appointment. Please arrive 15 minutes early for your first appointment.

We value children, but this course is not appropriate for chidlren of any age to attend.

Need to attend without your partner? This course is not suitable; please contact us to arrange an individual course.

Course times – offered as the following package:

• Completion of FOCCUS inventory online as individuals (we'll email you the inventory when you book your course). This is an essential prerequsite for continuing your course.
• Attend 3 x 60 minute appoinments together as a couple over three weeks, as per booking schedule.

Additional sessions - These can be booked by arrangement with your practitioner at a fee of $120.00 per session.

Location - Centacare and the Family Relationship Centre, 58 Morgan Street, Fortitude Valley.  Accessible via Morgan Street only, we are located on the grounds of St Patrick's Catholic Church, first building to the right of the church.

Parking and transport - Free car parking available in front of the Centacare and Family Relationship Centre building. Please check the Translink website for public transport information.

Letter of attendance - at the conclusion of your course, you will receive a letter for your priest or celebrant. This course is accepted as an appropriate form of pre-marriage education by many priests and celebrants; please check with your intended place of marriage that this course meets their requirements for pre-marriage education.

Fees - per couple. Inclusive of online inventories and 3 couple appointments. When booking, please book one ticket per couple.

•       Full fee - $360.00
•       One concession (Current, Commonwealth Government health care card) - $310.00
•       Two concessions (Current, Commonwealth Government health care card) - $260.00

      Concession Cards must be verified prior to the commencement of the course.  Please contact our office for verification.

Special needs - please add any health, vision, hearing, mobility, neurosensory or interpreting requirements in the special needs section of your registration. This allows us to be sensitive to participant needs while maintaing your privacy. Additional fees may apply for interpreters. To discuss further, please contact us.

Need to change dates or cancel? Please contact us as soon as possible, as date changes are subject to availability. Please note additional fees may apply:  

• Appointment cancellation within 48 hours or failure to attend appointment may incur a $120.00 missed session fee.
• Make-up appointments and/or additional appointments can be requested at a fee of $120.00 per session. 
• 2.5% processing fee applies to course refunds.  
• $60.00 cancellation fee applies if cancelling course within seven days prior to start date, no refunds given on or after course start date. 
• No refund can be given if couples transfer course dates and then cancel attendance.
