Cultural Safety Training for General Practice (SOLD OUT)
This six hour RACGP accredited cultural safety workshop provides a cultural perspective on working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients, families and carers in general practice and community care.

This course is hosted by Dandenong and District Aborigines Co-operative Ltd (DDACL) and will be presented online via Zoom by AJ Williams-Tchen of Girraway Ganyi Consultancy Pty Ltd.
Course facilitator, AJ Williams is of Wiradjuri / Wotjobulak background and has over 30 years experience in health & community services as a Nurse, Youth Worker, Social Worker and Aboriginal Health Practitioner. He is the recipient of the 2016 Emerging Victorian Indigenous Leadership Award, and in 2019 was awarded the Frankston Mornington Peninsula NAIDOC Community Award.
Learning Outcomes
The learning outcomes for this session are:
- Identify factors that affect contemporary Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander clients & Families
- Discuss how history impacts on current health issues for Aboriginal people.
- Discuss evidence based practical strategies to assist working with Aboriginal clients and families.
- Implement system based models and social theories of practice.
