Sex & Ego

The entire Path of Erotic Healing, as well as this workshop, ‘Sex & Ego’ is a new offering that brings what happens in sex therapy into the community, in an as-yet-to be explored way.  

Sexuality is one of the areas where we’re wounded the most in our society, as well as one of the areas that is the most hidden.  It carries deep unconscious conditioning and patterns.  

In recent times we’ve seen the rise of (neo)Tantra which seeks to address this issue by offering sex as spirituality, sexual healing and sex-positive experiences.  Which is a great start, and yet without understanding how the ego itself grabs a hold of our sexuality, our transformation will be limited. To redress the toxicity, imbalance, unhealthy patterns, fixations and wounding, and transform our sexuality into a living expression of Essence, we need a deeper understanding of the building blocks of our sexuality, and how our sexuality is formed and patterned.

In the #Metoo movement a large component of the cultural sexual shadow emerged.  Healing is trying to happen, power imbalances are being addressed, and there is collective purification happening.  However this will be for naught if we don’t understand the deep unconscious drivers of our sexuality. We’ll dive deeply into that in this workshop and this Path.

To the Ego, Oscar Wilde’s quote that “Everything in the world is about sex, except sex.  Sex is about power” often rings true.

So much gets tangled up into sex.  We may think that we need sex, when actually what we need is love, value, to be seen or accepted, and to be in touch with our inherent essential power or worth. We learn a babies that all nurturing, comfort and safety comes externally, primarily from mother, and that belief instilled at this point is incredibly difficult to shake.

Sigmund Freud noted the connection between this truth and how it gets implanted into our sexuality, saying, “No one who has seen a baby sinking back satiated from the breast and falling asleep with flushed cheeks and a blissful smile can escape the reflection that this picture persists as a prototype of the expression of sexual satisfaction in later life.”

In this event we’ll uncover and explore our sexual personalities, how and why they formed, and how old emotional wounds are often tied into our sexual identities and behaviour patterns.

This is an exploration of how our ego drives behaviour, and how our sexuality is co-opted into that.  And we’ll open to the truth that it’s possible to live beyond ego and to experience sexuality and intimacy beyond ego.  Can you even imagine what that would that be like?

Hence this workshop is for people who are curious about their sexuality and want to know how to experience fulfilment in this area of their lives, or people who feel that their body may be stuck in certain patterns and ways of relating, or for those curious as to why they attract certain sexual energies or partners into their lives.

And it’s definitely for people who want to understand the difference between egoic sexuality and essential sexuality, and overall deepen consciousness and awareness around sexual energy.

Elica is a Midwife for the Soul, a Psychotherapist in Private Practice and a workshop creator. She specialises in working with the parts of the personality and the subconscious mind and has over 15 years in the field as therapist, teacher & client. She embraces the ego and acknowledges it's role as 'The Defender of Essence'. Her experience over the years has shown her, as we work with all of our ourselves with Great Love & Compassion, the doorway through the personality to the real person and their real life opens. Through this pathway, our true potential as Human Beings can be embodied and realised.

Amitayus is a Spiritual Coach, and a Tantra and Yoga Teacher, especially focused on Relationship as Spiritual Path and the Individuation Process. The values that he holds dear, and emerge in all his offerings are: deepening consciousness, loving connection, and adventurous exploration. He is currently working towards a diploma in Transpersonal Psychotherapy at Ikon Institute in Melbourne.
