THE 10:30 ADJUDICATION SESSION IS FULL!
All instruments may still register for the 11:45 session
SATURDAY 2 Nov 2019 10:30am - 4:00pm Albany Senior High School
The Albany AUSTA string festival is a friendly performance opportunity geared towards students of all ages and abilities. Beginners and young players are particularly encouraged to give performing a go in what will be a warm and welcoming environment. Students will perform a prepared piece for expert string players from the West Australian Symphony Orchestra and at the end of the session receive a written report and certificate. Whilst the emphasis of the festival is on participation, Adjudicators will announce a “Special Commendation” at the end of each adjudicated session to a student who they felt played particularly well or showed great stage presence. Seperate sessions will be held for low strings and high strings. In addition, two small masterclass sessions will occur for high and low strings.
Parents and friends are welcome and encouraged to watch any of the festival activities.
Festival accompanist, Patrick Elms, will be available to accompany students for the adjudication sessions, and this is included in the entry fee of only $12.50. If students require an additional rehearsal with Patrick then this will need to organised at their own expense. Masterclasses will be unaccompanied.
The Festival afternoon session will be a side by side read through opportunity for teachers and more advanced students (minimum Grade 4 AMEB) where the WASO musicians will lead us through some lovely repertoire for string orchestra. This session is what music is all about- celebrating being part of the global community of music and playing for the joy of it.
Masterclass bookings cannot be made on line. Please contact Event Organizer, Helen Grandage, directly for more information and booking.
