Bertie Blackman’s Mica the Star Sailor is dedicated to her father, the late artist Charles Blackman, and is a meteoric exploration of love, loss and the power of imagination. Mica, a wonderful picture book is an expression of longing for the magical time Bertie had with her father when she was young, before he became ill with dementia when she was only 13 years old.
