Registrations for the fifteenth annual Young Gun of Wine are now open, and the showcase organisers are on the hunt for the most exciting winemakers and wines around Australia.
In evolution of the Awards, for the first time in our 15 year history, we will now be providing feedback to winemakers on their entries from our panel tasting. As well, we will be creating a new trophy to recognise the best winemaking viticulturist.
The tasting panel will gather early 2021 to determine the list of finalists, which is followed by media activity and showcase events (virtiual or traditional) for both trade and consumers.
For those who have participated in YGOW previously, please note the following key changes since 2020:
- We will now be providing feedback to winemakers on their entries from our panel tasting.
- All finalists have profiles written and published at younggunofwine.com
- We will be creating a new trophy to recognise the best vigneron winemaker – that is, for a winemaker who is also managing the vines.
- Winemakers can submit any wines for the tasting panel in January, without having to hold back stock for the People’s Choice events. I.e., any wines made by the winemaker can be shown at any of the events - these do not need to be the same as the wines submitted for the tasting panel in January. In further changes, there will be no “Final 12” in 2020 – all winemakers in the Top 50 will be in the running for trophies.
The 15th annual Young Gun of Wine concludes with the trophy winners presentation in June (date TBC).
