New frontiers - Health Anxiety in the Age of COVID

The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted how common and debilitating health anxiety is, and the challenges of distinguishing when it is normal and adaptive, versus problematic. Drawing on the latest research and theories of health anxiety, this webinar will describe when and why it develops, who is at risk, and why it persists. Using clinical examples, it will provide an overview of gold-standard assessment tools, new (vs. old) diagnostic labels and considerations, what works/doesn’t work in psychological and pharmacological treatment for health anxiety, and a brief description of emerging treatment innovations.
