About
'How the West Was Lost', written and produced by David Noakes and Paul Roberts, tells the story of the Pilbara Strike, when, on 1 May 1946, Aboriginal pastoral workers launched a strike for wages and better living conditions. After a hard-fought three-year struggle, supported by activists 'down south', the strikers finally won their demands and established their own communities free of the previous domination of pastoralists, police and the Department of Native Affairs.
