Shostakovich's powerful Piano Trio No. 1 reveals a vulnerable romantic, and begins a night of music of great imaginations. A gripping premiere follows, New York-based Australian composer Michael Grebla, whose music is captivating, introspective and simply human. Pärt's serene retelling of Mozart's Adagio from Sonata in F Major, K. 280 suspends time before Schumann's lively Piano Trio No. 2 uplifts in a finale of optimism.
