Online Training by Russell Kennedy | Home care expenditure:
Home Care can be difficult to navigate. Not only must providers manage a consumer’s needs and expectations within their budget, providers must ensure they are complying with legislation and guidelines to ensure that the services provided and items purchased with a package are not out of scope.
The legislation briefly sets out the criteria for what is allowed to be purchased using Home Care funding, however practically, it can be very difficult for providers to interpret and adhere to the legislation particularly in light of the evolving interpretation by the industry and regulators.
In this session, we will present on the following:
- What is and isn’t allowed to be purchased: what are the rules?
- What evidence you need to demonstrate that an item is allowed.
- Examples of issues we have seen providers run into.
- Key issues: everyday purchases and home modifications
- Consequences for providers who get it wrong
Attendees will gain a greater understanding of the rules around HCP purchases. You will receive practical guidance about what purchases are allowed under the legislation and what documentation/evidence providers need to demonstrate that a purchase is allowed.
