Coromandelians: The Bay’s first new arrivals in 1837
About
The Coromandel was the first ship bringing settlers from the United Kingdom to South Australia to arrive in 1837. Its arrival marked a change in policy regarding the employment of the labourer emigrants given free passage to South Australia. Bill Othams has co-authored a book about the beneficiaries of that change in policy, and how they fared in the Promised Land. He will be talking about those labourers, their fellow passengers and the Coromandel crew members who settled hereLocation
