About

We explore music touched by the loss of a homeland. The program includes works by Weill, Korngold and Martinu who fled Nazi tyranny as well as works by Russian emigres Rachmaninoff & Stravinsky. A newly commissioned work by Ukrainian-Australian composer Catherine Likhuta will be premiered. Also featured are 'Jewish Life' by Bloch and 'Song of the Birds' - a traditional Catalan Song made famous by renowned cellist Casals who fled Franco controlled Spain for a life of exile in France.
