At Illume Learning we believe in the importance of educators learning from autistic voices, and we are so thrilled to be able to bring you this opportunity.
By very popular demand, Summer Farrelly will be presenting a two-part webinar about supporting autistic students. This extended format will allow Summer to delve deeper into a range of topics, presenting from a student's perspective to provide educators with a clearer understanding about challenges autistic students navigate within an education environment.

During this session, Summer will support attendees to:
- Understand challenges autistic students face within the learning environment
- Develop an understanding from the perspective of an autistic student
- Identify strategies that benefit the class as a whole
- Understand different processing systems
- Identify and understand autistic emotions and anxiety
- Understand the importance of self-regulation for autistic students
- Develop an understanding of how autistic students learn best in a classroom setting and educational environment
- Develop an understanding of why executive functioning skills and support requirements can vary from day to day

During this session, Summer will support attendees to:
- Explore the idea of 'Connecting Students with Common Interests'
- Develop the ability to recognise the difference between a meltdown vs tantrum
- Identify and understand how and why meltdowns occur
- Understand the importance of a teacher who understands ME not autistic stereotypes and myths
- Understand the Top 5 Challenges autistic students navigate within the education system
- Develop an understanding of why change is challenging
- Explore connection through animals
- Understand how to implement their creation ('WHAT WORKS FOR ME'), an individualised support profile, within your school or classroom
About SUMMER
Summer Farrelly is 15-year-old Autistic Advocate, Public speaker, Inclusion & Education Consultant, Artist, Chicken Whisperer, Animal Assisted Learning Program Creator & Facilitator, Animal Therapies LTD Ambassador and The A List Ambassador.
Summer has a late diagnosed autistic mother and two autistic brothers. Summer believes their lived experience as an autistic individual and living within a family that consists of multiple autistic members, each with their own complexities, will provide both a relatable and diverse perspective.
For the last 5 years Summer has been sharing their personal insight and perspective as someone who lives with daily challenges related to Dyslexia, ADHD, PTSD, Depression and Anxiety.

- Access details will be provided by email 24 hours prior to the live event. Attendees who register after 24 hours prior will receive their access details 1 hour before the live event.
- Access is provided to the registered attendee only and is not to be shared.
