This free class is open to all women and teenage girls (16 years and over). Gender diverse, trans women and non-binary people are welcome in this class. Participants are welcome to join us for afternoon tea following the session.
This session will be run by Sensei Mark and his team of experienced female karate students from Senshi Karate School. Sensei Mark will teach you the theory and basics behind self-defence techniques to help improve your physical and mental well-being.
If you want to feel confident in your self-defence skills, then this is class for you!
Senshi Karate School has been part of the Glen Waverley community for close on a decade, empowering women, and girls with effective and easy to learn self-defence skills.
In this introductory program you will learn basic self-defence techniques appropriate to all ages, and respectful of lifestyle, gender, and culture. No prior training or minimum fitness is required, and the program is conducted in a non-threatening, enjoyable environment.
Terms and Conditions
1. No ticket – no admittance
2. Please do not attend training if you have flu or fever like symptoms
3. If post-injury please obtain medical clearance from doctor before attending
4. Please register for each session
5. Bring water bottle, towel
6. Ensure appropriate attire is worn – loose clothing/active wear, enclosed shoes
7. Participants must be aged 16 and over.
8. Advise instructor if a current injury may prevent them performing such movements safely
9. Registration to this program is a first in, best dressed process. Should you need to cancel your spot please do so prior so another can come off the wait list
10. For contact tracing measures, we are required to record full name, phone and email of all participants. This information will be used to develop a community database for future programs with Active Monash
11. You should accept that you exercise at your own risk based on your knowledge of your own limitations. Council is not liable for any potential damages
12. The This Girl Can activities are available for free to members of the community as part of the This Girl Can initiative, you will receive an email requesting your feedback to help improve future programs.
