Gesamtkunstwerk: The House-Museum as a Total Work of Art
In this talk architect and scholar Jarrod Haberfield will share his thoughts, drawn from his extensive research and travels, on the notion of Gesamtkunstwerk - the total work of art. He will compare how we engage with art in the highly personalized and visually distracting world of the house-museum with that of the rarefied, distraction-free world of the institutional art museum. Where does art look best? Which offers the superior mode of engagement? Jarrod’s presentation may surprise you.
Lecture followed by refreshments in the JAHM apartment
