TERMINUS
Written by: Daniel Keene
Director: Tim Maddock
Situated between a collection of 'in-between' places, Terminus is a show that is centred around the journey toward the end. Terminus asks of its characters, 'what is the destination? what is my ending?' Steeped in existentialism and riddled with creatures of the night, this play invites you to examine reality, and ask the same questions.
Commissioned initially by Director Tim Maddock for a Red Shed Theatre Company production, this play was written by acclaimed Australian author Daniel Keene. First performed some time ago, this is the second time the play has ever been staged. With a more contemporary context and a university cast, Tim seeks to present this play in a new way, fresh and unrestrained by the initial readings of the text from his first staging of it.
This production seeks to bring audiences closer to an exploration of death and 'the end', without drowning in hopelessness and darkness. It asks you to wait in the terminal with the rest of us, watch the passersby, and discover what night train you will take.
