Bach Magnificat and Carols from around the world
Phoenix Choir is bringing a mix of Christmas treats to Blackheath.
The Magnificat deserves its popularity, showing J.S. Bach at his most splendid and ornate in half an hour of joyous celebration. The choir is joined by professional soloists and our local Kanimbla string quartet and organs to capture the rich baroque counterpoint. And the trumpet rings out above to add celestial drama to the stately elegance.
Musical director, Amy Moore, has also gathered a selection of carols from around the world so there will also be a few surprises to contrast with the heartwarmingly familiar. The trumpet will help with the descant in some of the traditional carols, including some for the audience to sing along.
