About

On this FREE community walk, learn about the culture and language of the Noongar people. We will be in the season of Birak in the Perth Region. The six seasons played an integral role in the yearly cycle of travel and resource collection for Noongar people.

The event will include a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony and incorporate moments for sharing as we walk along the river and learn about the the importance of KEP (water) and hear about the programs that are planned for the area. We will visit the story board telling the story of Sister Kates Home and participants will learn of the history of Sister Kate's Home and the connection to Kent Street Weir.

Please note that these events are fluid and each walk is slightly different - depending on the weather, the flora and fauna that we may see and the questions that are asked.
