Margaret Sutherland | Haunted Hills: symphonic poem
Dr Jillian Graham who has just published Inner Song, a biography of Margaret Sutherland, will give a pre-concert talk about Sutherland and Haunted Hills at 7:10 pm in Flockhart Hall adjacent to the James Tatoulis Auditorium. Copies of Inner Song will be available for purchase at interval.
Copies of your friend Alberto Zelman, a book about the history of the MSO and Zelman Symphony from 1906 to the end of the 20th Century will aslo be on sale.
May Lyon | Opal: Double Concerto for Horns and Orchestra
Brahms | Symphony No. 1 in C minor, Op. 68
Opal: Double Concerto for Horns and Orchestra was written by Melbourne based composer, May Lyon, for Nicolas Fleury and Rachel Shaw and premiered by them with the MSO. In 2016, May Lyon was the Zelman Symphony / University of Melbourne Emerging Composer of the Year selected to compose a work for Zelman Symphony to workshop and premiere. She called her work Nornir Concerto for Viola to Violin.
Haunted Hills is a famous 1950 composition by one of Australia’s best known composers.
