15 CPD Hours
Body Psychotherapy will teach safe body interventions for traumatized individuals, by combining the Polyvagal approach of Dr Stephen Porges, the techniques of the Somatic Experiencing Approach developed by Dr Peter Levine, and modern somatic and clinical approaches and strategies. Learn how using Polyvagal Theory in therapy will increase the effectiveness of your clinical work with clients suffering from trauma experiences. Combining the principles of the Polyvagal Theory and bodywork allows a re-set of the incoherent autonomic nervous system response in traumatized clients in order to assist them to self-regulate adequately again. This combined approach re-establishes a sense of wholeness and advance flow, internal coherence, a sense of safety and self-regulation. Principles will be taught and demonstrated, allowing participants to practise these techniques to develop confidence.
