More than Nostalgia
About
For many years, journalist Aron Lewin has been working with documentary photographer Tatiana C.C. Scott to record the stories behind longstanding shops and traders across Melbourne for the website Tales of Brick and Mortar (talesofbrickandmortar.com).Through written and visual storytelling, the project seeks to share and highlight the history behind these institutions, and provide a point for discussion about their social, architectural, economic and cultural impact within – and beyond – the local community. More than just nostalgia, these shops and people are vitally important as (among other things) a point of connection. But, if they close, that service is often lost, and it becomes much more difficult to document their history.
We are looking forward to talking about the project, so come along!
