Working with people with paraphilic disorders
Paraphilic disorders are conditions where individuals have atypical or anomalous sexual interests, urges or behaviour, which lead to distress or harm to themselves or others, including sexual offending. They are important risk factors for sexual offending, and the assessment and treatment of paraphilic disorders is central to intervention, risk reduction and rehabilitation with people who have caused sexual harm. This one day training will be suitable for clinicians or professionals working in forensic, mental health, correctional or other services involved in work with those who commit sexual abuse or in the prevention of sexual abuse.
This training will be facilitated by Dr Rajan Darjee: Deputy Specialty Director for Forensic Mental Health Services, Tasmanian Health Service; Adjunct Associate Professor, Centre for Forensic Behavioural Science, Swinburne University of Technology; Clinical Director (Psychiatry), Forensic Behavioural Assessment and Consultation Services.
