The Oddie Lecture

137th Anniversary of the Observatory.

Dr Martin George will be our speaker for the 3rd Oddie Lecture. Martin will speak about Grote Reber who was an American pioneer of radio astronomy, which combined his interests in amateur radio and amateur astronomy. Reber moved to Tasmania. He was instrumental in investigating and extending Karl Jansky’s pioneering work, and conducted the first sky survey in the radio frequencies.
