An eczema consumer group session with Jemma Weidinger -We are running a study at Perth Children’s Hospital for children with eczema under 6 years of age to see if coconut oil is effective in the treatment of eczema. Coconut oil has been widely used for centuries for skin care in babies, children and adults. It has moisturising properties and is naturally rich in fatty acids that are active against common skin bacteria.
The study aims to see if coconut oil is an effective treatment for eczema, when used in addition to a child’s usual eczema care plan. I am interested to get your feedback on involving your child in a research study like this. I am also interested in what major issues you and your family experience in relation to your child with eczema.
