Local Word: Magical Worlds: Writing Fantasy for Children
This information session and interactive discussion is for anyone interested in the craft of writing, in the fantasy genre, or in children’s literature generally.
Looking at the importance of fantasy for children today, developing and maintaining world-building for standalone and series, and crafting intricate, engaging fantasy worlds and the magic system that underpins them.
Shivaun Plozza is an award-winning author of books for children and young adults. Her debut novel, Frankie, was shortlisted for the CBCA Book of the Year (older readers), Highly Commended at the Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards, and won the Davitt Award for Best YA Crime Novel.
Samantha-Ellen Bound is a writer, children’s author, & podcast host. She has many years’ experience working with books & publishing and she hosts and produces KidLit Classics, a podcast that celebrates classic children’s literature.
