In an absolute first for neuro-affirming practice, Sandhya will focus on bringing neuro-affirming allied health clinicians together, looking at theory and translating this into how we practice and see clients. Speech pathologists, GPs, Occupational Therapists, Paediatricians, Psychologists, Art, Music and Play therapists are all welcome!The day will cover:
-introduction to neurodiversity affirming practice and its history
-conceptualising the autistic neurotype holistically
-critically examining affirming social skills support
-adopting a trauma-informed lens to distress behaviours and emotional regulation
The aim is for clinicians to walk away confident and connected with their professional development in supporting clients from the neuro-affirming paradigm, from therapy support to goal and report writing. The day will be equal parts theory and equal parts discussion in examining clinical referrals so that clinicians understand how to marry theory to practice.
